The company “Kusto Agro” introduced the land bank monitoring system. Today, the dispatch operator of the IT department Andriy Tsarenko will tell us about the peculiarities of the system’s work.
— I have worked at the company for almost a year. I’m specializing in the analytics of the land bank and cultivated areas and the monitoring of the expedient land use. I also keep track of the status of shares and the end date of tenancy contracts.
— How does your system work? For example, how is conducted monitoring of the rational use of land plots?
— Dispatcher service provides relevant GPS-coordinates of machines’ movement, which I later integrate into a software product that virtually contains the data about all our land plots. This allows analyzing whether we fully use these lands or we find out about the underfulfilment of a sowing plan. When irregularity happens, we visit the place and check information.
— How did the introduction of the system take place?
— Creation and roll-out of the system required a scrupulous approach. We had to add all information on the company’s land bank to a single database, make a breakdown by businesses, and
attach it to land plots.
Then we created a classifier that enabled the conduction of analytical operations on the terms of tenancy, a status of land plots, and the state of tillage. For some time we worked on the integration of the machines’ movement indicators into this software product.
— Did you face any difficulties during the realization of the system?
— The main challenge was the necessity to create an electronic chart of land plots with its attachment to an electronic map of fields and to make integration of virtual tillage. But we made it.
— Do you work offline?
— Yes but our software product also allows working online with a limited number of relevant users.
— Did you undergo any special training to work on this software project or have a similar work experience before?
— I had experience in working with a similar product: the instrument is the same but an interface is different, and there are different possibilities. That’s why I needed the special training. I took training courses organized by the specialists of this software. Then I start to work independently.
— What are the benefits of the software product?
— The system allows keeping track of a number of important aspects. It gives a chance to analyze the state of land plots in terms of the full or partial land cultivation and study a land plot with different statuses. The software product sends graphical signals on when and which of the land plots has the end date of the tenancy.
We received the single database of tenancy contracts, including a base of scanned documents with their attachment to the land plots on the map. We also customized samples of keeping reports and tenancy contracts directly for printing. We developed the single depositary of the cartographic information and contractual documents. After moving to a land plot, we immediately receive a detailed info about a contract. Similarly, due to the software product, it’s also easy to create exchange agreements with other enterprises for an efficient use of owned assets.
All information is forwarded to the executive management team and straight to directors of enterprises. By using visualization and accurate mapping of land plots, we can optimize the land bank structure.
— Does the system allow tracking what cultures are used for seeding fields?
— Yes. The dispatcher service provides primary data, and my work is a detailed analysis of land plots.
— What are the most common errors detected by the system?
— Primarily, it’s a not full use of the company’s land assets.
